Program Track: Clinical
Course Description: The profession of dental hygiene was created on the concept of prevention. If we take a moment to reassess what we do for our patients, are we preventing dental disease? Have we gotten into a routine that doesn’t support prevention as much as it supports treatment? Biofilm management is the name of the game; both in-office and at-home. Putting a more significant focus on biofilm management during patient care could be what tips the scale for patients.
What if we flipped the script during our patient care process and followed the Standards for Clinical Dental Hygiene Practice: Assessing, Diagnosing, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, Documentation to deliver “Minimally Invasive Support Therapy”? If disease prevention is based on at-home biofilm management, flipping the appointment and first coaching the patient vs. leaving it to last could be advantageous. Moving then into a therapeutic procedure, like air powder polishing, based on their assessment and diagnosis, instead of placing a scaler to the tooth could be what promotes prevention or treatment. Join us for this 1-hour webinar where we will highlight changing your patient care process.
- Describe the Standards for Clinical Dental Hygiene Practice
- Evaluate current patient care practices for disease prevention
- Identify a patient who would benefit from air powder techniques and in-office biofilm management for Minimally Invasive Support Therapy
- “Flip” the appoint sequence to gain increased patient health
