Medical emergencies can occur unexpectedly in any dental setting, making preparation, early recognition, and prompt intervention essential to patient safety. This presentation will review common medical emergencies encountered in dental practice, including syncope, hypoglycemia, seizures, respiratory distress, allergic reactions, and cardiovascular emergencies. Participants will learn strategies for identifying patients at risk, recognizing early warning signs, and implementing appropriate emergency response protocols. Emphasis will be placed on the PCABD (Positioning, Circulation, Airway, Breathing, and Definitive Care) framework, emergency equipment readiness, and effective team communication. Through interactive clinical scenarios, attendees will apply emergency management principles, strengthen clinical decision-making skills, and gain practical strategies to improve emergency preparedness and patient safety in their dental practice.

In this webinar you will:

  • Identify common medical emergencies encountered in dental practice and recognize their early signs and symptoms.
  • Evaluate patient risk factors and describe preventive strategies to reduce the likelihood of medical emergencies.
  • Apply the PCABD (Positioning, Circulation, Airway, Breathing, and Definitive Care) framework to the management of medical emergencies.
  • Describe appropriate emergency response protocols, including the use of emergency medications, equipment, and activation of emergency medical services.
