Almost all oral disease is preventable, yet our nation continues to be challenged by an oral health access crisis. New types of dental providers and workforce models are needed to meet the oral health needs of the public. This symposium will address the contributions dental hygienists and dental therapists are making to improve access to care. Further, curricular models that support primary care concepts will be emphasized. Dental hygiene administrators and educators will experience a call to action as they consider the steps needed to prepare students and clinicians for workforce models for contemporary practice and the future.
