Course Description: This faculty development webinar is designed for dental hygiene educators who teach general and oral pathology and seek effective, ethical, and technology-enhanced instructional strategies aligned with CODA standards. The course models evidence-based educational methodologies that support visual literacy, clinical reasoning, and patient-centered decision-making. Participants will explore how Bloom’s Taxonomy, Cognitive Load theory, and Cognitive Apprenticeship theory can be applied to pathology education. Practical strategies are provided to promote consistency across didactic and clinical instruction.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and apply CODA Standards in General and Oral Pathology courses.
  • Recognize effective uses of technology in oral pathology instruction that can support visual literacy and clinical reasoning.
  • Evaluate common teaching approaches for Bloom’s Taxonomy, Cognitive Load and Cognitive Apprenticeship.
  • Create active learning strategies for general and oral pathology courses.
