Course Description: This course provides dental hygiene educators with key methodologies for enhancing their periodontology instruction. The curriculum of periodontology integrates basic, dental, and behavioral sciences, and a strong periodontal education is fundamental to the clinic practice of dental hygiene. We need to teach students to comprehensively evaluate a patient’s oral and systemic status and risk factors for disease and take the appropriate mitigating steps to decrease and treat disease states. Participants in the course will explore curriculum recommendations, applicable CODA standards, review the learning domains students must achieve in the didactic & clinical portions of periodontology, and incorporate evidence-based debridement techniques for dental implants. Join us to enhance your teaching effectiveness and improve the overall quality of dental hygiene education.
