Course Description: This course is a three-part series that focuses on a variety of topics to promote student success in the both the didactic and laboratory setting. The course includes review of images, radiographs, intra oral images and tips on how to build the foundation for students as they transition into the clinical setting in order to promote student success. This course provides resources to help dental anatomy educators meet CODA standards and includes downloadable resources, reflection activities, knowledge checks, and review of radiographs and intra oral images as they relate to dental anatomy.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review teaching methods that aid in student retention of unique anatomical features based on tooth type in the permanent dentition.
  • List examples of teaching methods, evaluation/assessment methods, and remediation strategies in order to align with CODA standards.
  • Learn about evidence-based research and peer reviewed articles that relate to dental anatomy.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of ways to promote clinical application and critical thinking in dental sciences curriculum.
  • Identify effective both didactic and laboratory learning experiences to promote student success in dental anatomy.
