Course Description: Although the dental hygienists’ role is clearly outlined in the American Dental Associations’ Dental Hygiene Standards, there is often confusion among clinicians and policy makers about the dental hygienist's role in providing patient care. Using artificial intelligence (AI) tools can help dental hygienists and dentists have enhanced confidence when performing the dental hygiene standard of care including documentation, diagnosis, patient education, and treatment planning processes. This session will provide background on the dental hygiene diagnosis, how AI can be used as a tool in dental settings, AI limitations, and AI ethical considerations. This session will also share qualitative insights from oral health professionals on their knowledge, beliefs, and experiences with using AI radiograph enhancing software. *Note: This course offers a closed-captioned option as well as auto-translated subtitles in 10 languages.
