Course Description: Since suicide is a public health concern, educating dental healthcare providers in terminology, techniques, and awareness can be crucial to saving a life. This course teaches language to use for effective communication when someone is in crisis and allows the participant to learn what resources are available for help. Surveys show most healthcare providers do not get proper training to help those in need. With this course, that can be changed. NOTE: This course content contain themes of mental health and suicide that may act as triggers to the viewer. *Note: This course offers a closed-captioned option as well as auto-translated subtitles in 10 languages.

  • Recognize someone at risk for suicide.
  • Develop skills to intervene with those at risk.
  • Apply skills to offer help to someone in need.
  • Analyze and refer them to an appropriate resource.
