Course Description: In 2017, the American Academy of Periodontology and the European Federation of Periodontology came together to establish guidelines for the classification of periodontal diseases. This course discusses the outcomes of that meeting and examines the concepts of staging, grading, and distribution to classify a patient’s periodontal health, periodontal disease, or peri-implant disease.*Note: This course offers a closed-captioned video option.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the core concepts of the AAP updated classification of periodontal disease.
- Independently assess a patient’s periodontal health and properly stage, grade and distribute for a diagnosis.
- Recommend necessary treatment for the maintenance of the patient’s periodontal health or management of the patient’s periodontal disease.
