Course Description: This course will guide participants in exploring methods to integrate aspects of cultural diversity and inclusion into the dental hygiene curriculum. Various topics involving diversity and inclusion will be presented that will allow dental hygiene faculty to easily incorporate simple and more advanced activities into both the didactic and clinical components. Participants will leave the course with a better understanding of ways to enhance or implement their current diversity curriculum.

Learning Objectives:

  • Appreciate the need for a high quality diversity and inclusion curriculum.
  • Understand how to incorporate activities into the didactic portion of learning that are implemented into the clinic
  • Recognize the need to increase cultural awareness in students and faculty.
  • Discover how increasing cultural diversity curriculum can improve student awareness and improve patient care.
